In 2014, Nelson joined Brooklyn Outdoor as the Director of Sales + Operations. She has effectively used her skills to grow the company’s revenue from 600,000 to 6 million yearly. Her contributions to Brooklyn Outdoor have been integral to the company’s ability to get over the growth hump and scale the business. Her efforts are focused on improving and creating marketing collateral including: media kits, an internal customer retention database and unique marketing tools to increase company sales.
She consistently organizes presentations and meetings to keep communication fluid between clients and vendors. Nelson also took the initiative of implementing and managing an internal organization system to ensure completion and accuracy of the sales process. By doing so she has been able to maximize sales and company growth to maintain information that is vital for long-term success, reporting and tracking for vendor partners.
Prior to her employment with Brooklyn Outdoor, Nelson worked in sales for Allstate Insurance. During her time as a licensed insurance agent she was consistently at the top of her office in sales. Her positivity and willingness to go beyond with clients set her apart from the competition. This put Nelson in the position to take the position of marketing director and management responsibilities of the office.
Before her time in insurance, Nelson studied early education at Michigan State University. She worked as a teacher for a few successful years before taking the leap into sales. Her natural ability to engage those around her have allowed her to build lasting relationships throughout the community and OOH industry.
Her focus for the upcoming years is to expand her sales career by researching and utilizing her skills to build new client and agency relationships. She makes it her top priority to ensure client satisfaction and encourage growth for the company. Emily is a true asset to the Brooklyn Outdoor team and looks forward to a career in such a fast-paced industry for years to come.
